How to schedule Discord messages from your own account without a bot (2026)

Prompt template

Post this message from my own Discord account in each of these channels: channel links. Message: your message. Do a dry run in each channel first and show me the result, then send it and give me the link of each message.

Overview

Community managers, creators and founders post the same kinds of Discord messages again and again: the weekly event reminder, the Monday announcement, the "drop is live" post in three servers. Members of a server do the same for their own groups and friends: a good morning message, a birthday message at midnight, a reminder they do not want to send at 3 a.m.

They want each message to go out at the right time, in every channel where it belongs, under their own name. And they want to stop being online at that time to press Send.

Why it's hard

  • Discord's own scheduling is a beta. Discord's Beta Programs FAQ lists scheduled messages: "set a time in the future to send your messages in DMs and channels". A small, random group of users gets it. You cannot sign up, and support cannot add you. The FAQ describes one message at one time, not a message that repeats, and not one message for several channels.
  • A scheduling bot posts as the bot. MsgPlanner and Sigil post as a bot, not as you, and someone who manages the server must add them. You cannot add a bot to a server that you only belong to, and a bot cannot send a DM from your account. Their free plans are small: 3 active schedules and 200 characters per message on MsgPlanner, 1 scheduled post on Sigil.
  • A webhook is not you either. You create a webhook in the server's settings, under Integrations. It posts to one text channel, under the name and avatar you give it, and it sends nothing by itself: another service or your own script must call it.
  • A selfbot puts your account at risk. Discord's Self-Bots article says that automating a normal user account outside the OAuth2 or bot API is forbidden and can result in account termination. Selfbot tools also ask for your user token, which works like your password.
  • Several servers means several sends. To put one message in many channels, you post it in each one, or forward it by hand at that moment. Nothing sends it later, at the time you chose.

How Reduck does it

Your AI agent runs Reduck's Discord scripts in your own Chrome, where you are already signed in to Discord. You add no bot, create no webhook and paste no token, and each message goes out under your own name.

  1. It finds where to post. whoami confirms which Discord account the browser uses. list_servers lists your servers, and list_channels gives the name, category and link of each channel in one server.
  2. It checks before it sends. post_message has a dry run: it opens the channel, prepares the message and any file, and sends nothing. The agent shows you the result for each channel.
  3. It posts as you. post_message posts the text, up to 2000 characters, with one file if you add one. It returns the message id, the time and the text as Discord stored it. For a forum channel, create_forum_post creates a post with a title and an opening message, and does not make a second post with the same title. To mention someone, find_member_id gives their user id for a <@id> mention.
  4. It sends DMs. send_dm sends a direct message by user id, and it stops if the username that Discord returns for that id is not the one you expect.
  5. It fixes mistakes. edit_message replaces the text of your own message, and delete_message deletes a message.
  6. It repeats on your schedule. Run the same prompt with /loop in Claude Code, or call the same scripts from a cron job with the Reduck CLI. Each run posts again, in each channel of the list.

What you get: your announcements, reminders and DMs sent at the time you chose, every day or every week, in every channel of your list, from your own account, with a link to each message so you can check it.

How to start

  1. Create a free account at reduck.ai.
  2. Install the Reduck extension in Chrome and pair it.
  3. Connect Reduck to your agent: docs.reduck.ai.
  4. Ask: "Post this message from my own Discord account in each of these channels: {channel links}. Message: {your message}. Do a dry run in each channel first and show me the result, then send it and give me the link of each message."

Then make it repeat. Stay signed in to Discord in that Chrome, in one tab only.

  • From your agent. In Claude Code, type /loop, an interval and the same prompt, for example /loop 24h and the prompt to post once a day. It runs while Claude Code stays open.
  • At a fixed day and time. Call the scripts from a cron job with the Reduck CLI, signed in once with login or with REDUCK_API_KEY set. This line posts every Monday at 9:00 in two channels, one after the other:
0 9 * * 1 npx @reduck-ai/cli@latest run --sequential --script reduck/discord.com/post_message channelUrl=https://discord.com/channels/SERVER_ID/CHANNEL_ID "message=Weekly call today at 6 pm" --script reduck/discord.com/post_message channelUrl=https://discord.com/channels/SERVER_ID/OTHER_CHANNEL_ID "message=Weekly call today at 6 pm"

Ways to schedule Discord messages, compared

As each tool's own page describes it, read on October 30, 2026. "Not documented" means we did not find it on their page.

Where the others are stronger: a hosted bot such as MsgPlanner sends from its own servers, also when your computer is off, and MsgPlanner's paid plan allows 4,000 characters and up to 10 embeds per message. Discord's beta, when you have it, is built into the app. Reduck is for messages that must come from you, in servers that you do not manage or in DMs, from an agent that can also write the message and pick the channels.

FAQ

Yes. With Reduck, your AI agent posts the message from your own Discord account, in your own Chrome, at the time your agent runs. You add no bot, create no webhook and paste no token. The message shows your name and avatar, with no bot tag.
Only as a beta. Discord's Beta Programs FAQ lists scheduled messages as an active beta: "set a time in the future to send your messages in DMs and channels". A small, random group of users gets it, you cannot sign up, and Discord support cannot add you. The FAQ describes one message at a set time. It says nothing about messages that repeat, or about one message sent to several channels.
Your name. Reduck posts from the Discord tab you are signed in to, so the message shows your username and avatar, as if you typed it. A scheduling bot posts under the bot's name, and a webhook posts under the name and avatar set on the webhook.
Yes, when something runs the send on that schedule. Reduck has no scheduler of its own: a script runs when your agent or the Reduck CLI calls it. In Claude Code, /loop followed by an interval and the prompt runs it again and again while Claude Code stays open. For a fixed day and time, a cron job on your computer can call the Reduck CLI, for example every Monday at 9:00.
Yes, one channel after the other. Give your agent the list of channel links, or let it find them with list_servers and list_channels. It calls post_message once per channel and gives you the link of each message. You can post in every channel where your account can write, also in servers that you do not manage.
Yes, with send_dm. It takes the person's user id and their username, and it checks that the two match before it types, so the message never goes to a near-name match. find_member_id gives the user id from a name, through a channel of a server you share with that person. The person gets a notification, as for any DM.
No. The scripts run in your own Chrome, so your computer, Chrome and Discord must be open at the time of the send. Keep Discord open in one tab only: Discord allows one active tab per account. A hosted scheduling bot sends from its own servers, also when your computer is off.
Discord's Automated User Accounts (Self-Bots) article says that automating normal user accounts outside the OAuth2 or bot API is forbidden and can result in account termination. Reduck acts in your own browser, one message at a time, with no token and no change to the Discord client, but a scheduled send from a script is still automation of your account. We cannot promise that Discord will never flag it. Keep the pace of a person: a few messages, in channels where you post anyway, and no mass DMs.
A selfbot logs in with your user token, and that token works like your password. A BetterDiscord plugin changes the Discord client itself, and the BetterDiscord-ScheduledSend plugin says that it may violate Discord's Terms of Service. Reduck never receives your token or your password, and it does not change the Discord client: it acts in the Chrome you are signed in to, only when your agent or the CLI calls it.
No. post_message posts where your account can already write, like you would by hand. A scheduling bot must be added to the server by someone who can manage it, and a webhook is created in the server's settings, under Integrations.
A message has at most 2000 characters, and you can attach one file. post_message refuses empty messages and forum channels: for a forum, create_forum_post creates a post with a title and an opening message, up to 100 characters for the title. Each send is one run, and the runs go one after the other, because Discord allows one active tab per account.
Yes. post_message and send_dm have a dry run that opens the channel or the conversation and sends nothing. After a send, edit_message replaces the text of your own message, and Discord shows an "(edited)" tag. delete_message deletes it.
Yes. Reduck connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other MCP client, and it has a CLI and a REST API. Posting, sending a DM, editing and deleting are marked as writes, so a client that asks before a write asks you first.
