How to automate Reddit with an AI agent (2026): no API key, no PRAW, no n8n

Prompt template

Find this week's threads in r/subreddit where people ask about topic, read each one in full, draft a helpful reply for the best three, and show me the drafts before you post anything.

Overview

To automate Reddit is to let an AI agent do the Reddit work you repeat: search for posts about a topic, read a subreddit and its full threads, then post, comment, reply or send a DM. With Reduck, Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor does it as you, in your own Chrome, with no Reddit API key.

Why it's hard

Every usual way to automate Reddit goes through its API. PRAW, the Python library, needs a registered app and OAuth credentials. n8n, Make and Zapier connect to the same API. And the API is closing: Reddit stops new access requests after October 31, 2026, ends RSS feeds on November 13, 2026 and closes its public Data API in March 2027. Unauthenticated .json requests answer 403, and Reddit refuses connections from datacenter addresses, where cloud browsers and most agents run.

How Reduck does it

Reduck gives your agent a set of Reddit scripts that run in your own Chrome, through the Reduck extension, where you are signed in to Reddit. You ask in plain words; the agent chooses the scripts and chains them. It reads what you see, and it posts only what you ask for, under your account.

What your agent does

  • Find posts: search all of Reddit, or one subreddit, for a topic, a product or a question.
  • Read a subreddit: its hot, new, top or rising threads, with each post's full text.
  • Read a full thread: the post, its score and every comment with its depth.
  • Post and reply: submit a post, comment on one, reply to a comment, crosspost.
  • Message: send a DM and read your chat inbox.
  • Manage your account: join or leave a subreddit, save posts, follow users, vote.

The full list of Reddit scripts is in the catalogue.

Connect it

  1. Install the Reduck extension in Chrome and stay signed in to Reddit there.
  2. Add Reduck to your client: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT or any other MCP client.
  3. Ask: "Find this week's threads in r/SaaS where people ask for a CRM, read them, and draft a reply for the best three. Show me the drafts first."

Who it's for

  • Founders and marketers who find and answer threads about their product every week
  • Community managers who post, reply and follow conversations in a few subreddits
  • Developers whose PRAW scripts or n8n flows stop with the end of Reddit's public API

FAQ

Ask your AI agent in plain words. With Reduck connected to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, the agent picks the Reddit scripts it needs: search, read a subreddit, read a full thread, post, comment, reply or send a DM. There is no workflow to draw, no code to host and no Reddit app to register.
No. PRAW, n8n, Make and Zapier all go through Reddit's API, so they need an app or an account connection that Reddit approves. Reduck's scripts run in your own Chrome, through the Reduck extension, where you are already signed in to Reddit.
Yes. Reddit stops new requests for API access after October 31, 2026, ends RSS feeds on November 13, 2026 and closes its public Data API in March 2027. Reduck reads and acts on the pages you use while signed in, so it does not depend on the API or on RSS.
Those tools run a fixed workflow that you build, step by step, on top of Reddit's API. With Reduck, your AI agent decides the steps for each request and runs them in your browser. How n8n, Make and Zapier Reddit connections work after March 2027 is not documented on their integration pages.
Accounts get banned for spam: the same comment in many subreddits, posts at a pace no person keeps, self-promotion where the rules forbid it. Reduck acts at your pace, as you, and only when you ask. Let the agent find threads and draft replies, read the drafts, and post the ones you would write yourself. Check each subreddit's rules first.
Reddit's rules forbid unauthorized scraping, bulk collection, vote manipulation and unsolicited messages, whatever tool does it. Reduck reads what you could open yourself and posts only what you approve, in your own session. For bulk data, or Reddit data inside a product you sell, ask Reddit for data access.
Yes. Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code can run a task on a schedule, and your agent then calls the same Reddit scripts each time. For keyword alerts, see [Reddit keyword alerts](https://reduck.ai/use-cases/reddit-keyword-alerts).
