Reddit lead generation with AI: find SaaS leads on Reddit and draft replies (2026)

Prompt template

Find people on Reddit who ask for a tool like your product in r/subreddits, or who want an alternative to competitors. Read each thread and the subreddit's rules, keep only the real leads, and draft a helpful reply for each one. Show me the drafts and post nothing until I approve.

Overview

Reddit lead generation means finding the people who ask, in public, for a tool like yours: "is there a tool that does X?", "what's a good alternative to Y?", "any recommendations for Z?". With Reduck, your AI agent searches the subreddits your buyers read, keeps the posts with real intent, checks each subreddit's rules, and drafts a helpful reply that you approve before anything is posted.

Why it's hard

The leads are there, but they are buried. Reddit's search matches words loosely, so a search for "looking for a tool" returns founders' stories, rants and job posts next to the few people who really want to buy. Each lead also needs context: the full thread, who asked, and whether the subreddit allows a reply that names a product. Many do not: r/SaaS forbids vendor spam and selling.

Doing it by hand is hours of reading every week. Doing it with a script is not simpler: Reddit's public API needs an approved app and closes in March 2027, and Reddit blocks connections from datacenter addresses, where cloud scrapers run.

How Reduck does it

Reduck's Reddit scripts run in your own Chrome, through the Reduck extension, where you are signed in to Reddit. Your agent searches the subreddits you pick with your whole list of phrases in one pass: the questions your buyers ask, your competitors' names, the problem you solve. It reads each thread in full, opens the author's profile, and reads the subreddit's rules.

It keeps the posts where someone wants what you sell, drops the ones where a product reply would break the rules, and drafts a reply that answers the question first. You read the drafts in the chat. Only the replies you approve are posted, from your account, one at a time.

What your agent does

  1. Search your subreddits for buyer phrases, competitor names and your problem, in one pass
  2. Read each thread in full and the author's profile
  3. Read the subreddit's rules and drop the threads where a product reply is not allowed
  4. Keep the real leads and draft a reply for each one
  5. Post the replies you approve, from your account, and give you their links

FAQ

Yes. Hosted tools such as Redreach and ReplyGain watch Reddit for you and draft replies in a dashboard. With Reduck, your own AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client) does the search in your Chrome, reads each thread, and drafts the replies in the chat where you already work.
Only when you approve. Your agent shows you each draft first. When you say yes, reply_comment or post_comment posts the exact text under your Reddit account and returns the new comment's link. Nothing is posted on a schedule or in bulk.
Many subreddits forbid it. r/SaaS, for example, has rules against vendor spam and against selling or soliciting. Before it drafts, your agent reads the subreddit's rules with get_subreddit_info, and drops the threads where a reply about your product would break them. A reply that answers the question first, and names your product only when it fits, is also the reply people upvote.
Reddit's search matches loosely. In a test on October 8, 2026, three generic phrases ("looking for a tool", "alternative to", "any recommendations for") in r/SaaS, r/startups and r/smallbusiness returned 59 threads posted that week, and about 8 of them were people asking for a tool or a provider. Your agent reads each thread and keeps those. Searching for your competitors' names and the problem you solve, in the subreddits your buyers read, gives fewer and better matches.
Yes. get_user returns the author's bio, karma, account age and recent posts and comments, so your agent can tell a founder looking for a tool from a vendor or a student. get_thread reads every comment, so it sees whether the question is already answered.
No. There is no app to register and no key to paste. You stay signed in to Reddit in Chrome, and the Reduck extension runs each script there. Reddit blocks connections from datacenter addresses, which is why the scripts run in your own browser.
Redreach and ReplyGain are hosted services that watch Reddit continuously, score posts by intent and draft replies; you post them yourself. ReplyGain also covers Hacker News, X and Bluesky, and Redreach also offers an MCP server for AI assistants (both from their home pages, October 2026). Reduck does not watch Reddit on its own: it runs when your agent runs. In return, your agent decides the searches, reads each subreddit's rules and each author's profile, and can post the reply you approve from your own account.
Reddit's rules forbid spam, vote manipulation and unauthorized bulk collection, whatever tool does it. Your agent reads at your pace, in your own session, and posts one reply at a time, only when you approve it. Each subreddit also has its own rules: follow them.
