LinkedIn inbox management with an AI agent: sort your messages, filter out sales pitches and draft replies (2026)

Prompt template

Read my LinkedIn inbox from the last number of days days. Sort every conversation as real contact, prospect, recruiter, sales pitch or check, using this rule: your rule. Summarize the ones that wait for my answer and draft a reply for each. Do not send, archive or mark anything until I say so.

Overview

Founders, salespeople, recruiters and creators use their LinkedIn inbox for real work: buyers who reply, candidates, partners, people they met at an event. The same inbox now gets cold sales pitches, agency offers and messages written by AI, often with 4 or 5 follow-ups each. The real conversations get lost, and a reply that came in last week stays without an answer.

What they want is simple: see only the conversations that matter, know which ones wait for them, answer those fast, and put the rest away.

Why it's hard

  • LinkedIn has no rule of your own. The inbox has its Focused and Other folders and filters (unread, connections, InMail, starred, jobs). You cannot tell it that agency pitches go to one place and buyers to another. Its bulk actions are only three, done by hand: mark read or unread, delete, archive.
  • There is no API for your messages. LinkedIn's self-serve API lets an app sign you in and post on your own profile. Reading your inbox is not in it.
  • The export is slow and fixed. The Messages file of LinkedIn's data archive is listed under "Available within 48 hours", the link works for 72 hours, and it is a snapshot: new messages need a new request.
  • The tools that exist take something. Some hold your LinkedIn session on their servers, some are an app or an extension with an inbox of their own, and one works only from LinkedIn's notification emails in Gmail. Several are built for replies to your own outreach campaigns, not to sort what other people send you.
  • Many messages look the same. A pitch and a real prospect can both say "quick call?". To tell them apart, you often need the conversation history and the sender's profile.

How Reduck does it

Your AI agent runs Reduck's LinkedIn scripts in your own Chrome, where you are already signed in. It needs no API key, no separate inbox app, and it sends no cookie to a server.

  1. It reads the inbox. list_inbox returns your conversations, 20 at a time, newest first, from the folder and filter you choose, or from a keyword search across every folder. For each one: the people in it with their connection degree, whether it is read, and the last message. It does not mark anything as read.
  2. It reads the conversations it needs. get_thread returns the messages of a conversation, 20 per page, with sender, text and time. When the message does not say who the sender is, get_profile returns their headline, company and experience.
  3. It sorts by your rule. You write the rule in your own words, for example: "real contact if we talked before or they are a customer; prospect if they ask about our product; recruiter if it is about a role; sales pitch if they sell agency, lead generation or development services; check if you are not sure". The agent marks each conversation and gives you the list.
  4. It summarizes and drafts. For each conversation that waits for you, it writes a short summary of where things stand and a draft reply that fits the history.
  5. It acts only after your OK. send_message sends the replies you approve, in their conversations. bulk_conversations archives the pitches you approve, up to 100 at once, without opening them, or marks a conversation unread to keep it for later. Nothing is deleted.

What you get: one list of every conversation in the period you choose, sorted, with a summary and a draft for each one that waits for you, and an inbox with only the real conversations left, after your OK. Ask again each morning or each week.

Export your messages. The same scripts give you an export now, without waiting for LinkedIn's email: the agent pages through list_inbox and get_thread and writes every conversation to a sheet or a CSV, with the date, the sender and the text of each message. Then it can answer questions such as "which threads did I never answer?" or "what did recruiters offer this year?".

How to start

  1. Create a free account at reduck.ai.
  2. Install the Reduck extension in Chrome and pair it.
  3. Connect Reduck to your agent: docs.reduck.ai.
  4. Ask: "Read my LinkedIn inbox from the last {number of days} days. Sort every conversation as real contact, prospect, recruiter, sales pitch or check, using this rule: {your rule}. Summarize the ones that wait for my answer and draft a reply for each. Do not send, archive or mark anything until I say so."

Where the others are stronger: Kondo is a full inbox app with labels, reminders and snippets that you use all day. Linbox sorts in the background as messages arrive, with no prompt. FirstTouch and Salesforge are built for teams that run outreach and need the replies in their CRM. Reduck runs when your agent asks, and your Chrome must be open.

FAQ

Yes. With Reduck, your agent reads each conversation of your LinkedIn inbox in your own Chrome, with list_inbox and get_thread, and sorts it by the rule you write: real contact, prospect, recruiter, sales pitch or check. It can open the sender's profile with get_profile when the message alone does not say who they are. It changes nothing in the inbox until you approve.
No. list_inbox and get_thread read the inbox and the conversations without marking them as read, so the unread count you see stays the same. Only an action that you approve changes the state of a conversation.
It drafts, you decide. The agent writes a draft for each conversation that waits for you and shows it to you. send_message sends only the reply you approve, in the same conversation. It has a dry run that types the text and stops before the Send click. A new conversation is possible only with a 1st-degree connection or an open profile; InMail is not handled.
After your OK, bulk_conversations archives up to 100 conversations in one step, or marks them unread, the same way as the checkboxes in LinkedIn's inbox. It does not open them, so they are not marked as read. It never deletes a message: deletion on LinkedIn is permanent, and the agent does not do it.
Yes, in two ways. LinkedIn's own archive (Settings & Privacy, Data privacy, Download your data) has a Messages file with the messages sent, received and archived. LinkedIn lists it under 'Available within 48 hours', the link works for 72 hours, and the feature is not on mobile. Your agent can also read the conversations now, with list_inbox and get_thread, 20 at a time, and write them to a sheet or a CSV, with no wait for the email.
The scripts on this page read the classic LinkedIn inbox. Sales Navigator has its own inbox, and Reduck has separate scripts for it: sales_navigator_get_inbox, sales_navigator_get_thread and sales_navigator_send_message. They need a Sales Navigator seat.
Not for you. LinkedIn's self-serve API lets an app sign you in and post on your own profile; reading your messages is not in it. That is why inbox tools use your LinkedIn session, either on their servers, in an extension or app, or, with Reduck, in your own Chrome.
LinkedIn's help page on prohibited software says that it does not permit third-party software, bots or browser extensions that scrape or automate activity on its site, and that accounts which use them risk restriction. No tool can promise that LinkedIn will never act on an account. Reduck runs no bot of its own and sends no cookie to a server: each script runs in your own Chrome, only when you or your agent asks. Read and sort at the pace of a person, and approve every send.
Kondo is a LinkedIn inbox app with labels, split inboxes and reminders, and its MCP server (Business plan) lets Claude or ChatGPT search chats and write drafts. It is the better choice if you want a full inbox app every day. Reduck gives your agent LinkedIn scripts in your Chrome, with no separate inbox, and the same agent can also read profiles, search people and run your other LinkedIn tasks.
Yes. Reduck connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other MCP client. You ask in plain words, and the agent picks the LinkedIn scripts it needs.
