How to find SaaS leads on Reddit (2026): a 5-step playbook

Prompt template

Find people on Reddit who ask for a tool like your product in r/subreddits, or who want an alternative to competitors. Read each thread and the subreddit's rules, keep only the real leads, and draft a helpful reply for each one. Show me the drafts and post nothing until I approve.

Overview

How to find SaaS leads on Reddit in 2026, in 5 steps. Reddit leads are people who ask in public for a tool like yours: "is there a tool that does X?", "what's a good alternative to Y?". They are there, but buried under founders' stories, rants and job posts, and a reply that sells in the wrong subreddit gets removed. This playbook finds them and answers them without getting banned.

Step 1: Pick 3 to 5 subreddits where your buyers ask questions

Start where your buyers ask for tools, not where founders talk about tools. For a B2B SaaS, r/SaaS, r/startups and r/smallbusiness are a start; the subreddits of your buyers' job (r/sales, r/marketing, r/accounting) are often better. Search all of Reddit for the problem you solve and keep the subreddits where it comes up most.

Step 2: Read each subreddit's rules

Many subreddits forbid self-promotion. r/SaaS has rules against vendor spam and against selling or soliciting. Read the rules and the sidebar of each subreddit before you reply there, and note the ones that allow a product reply. See Subreddits that allow self-promotion.

Step 3: Search buyer-intent phrases and your competitors' names

Search each subreddit, newest first, for:

  • the phrases of a buyer: "is there a tool that", "alternative to", "any recommendations for", "looking for a tool";
  • your competitors' names;
  • the problem you solve, in your buyers' words.

Generic phrases bring noise. In a test on October 8, 2026, three of them in r/SaaS, r/startups and r/smallbusiness returned 59 threads posted that week, and about 8 were real requests. Competitor names and the problem give fewer and better matches.

Step 4: Read each thread and qualify who asked

Open each match and read the whole thread: is it a real request, is it already answered, does someone already recommend a tool like yours? Then look at the poster: a founder looking for a tool reads differently from a vendor, a student or a new account. Keep the real leads only.

Step 5: Reply to help first, then track what converts

Answer the question first, with what you know, and name your product only when it fits and the subreddit's rules allow it. A reply that helps is also the reply people upvote. Post one reply at a time, from your own account, and keep a list of the threads you answered, to see which subreddits and which phrases bring customers.

Tools that do each step

As each vendor's own site describes it, read in October 2026.
