Facebook Marketplace MCP server for AI agents: search listings, check sellers and message them with Claude or ChatGPT (2026)

Prompt template

Search Facebook Marketplace near city for item under price. Open the best listings, check each seller's profile, and type a message to the seller of the best one to ask if it is still available. Do not send it before I say so.

Overview

You are looking for something second hand: a car for work, a sofa, baby gear, or items to resell. Facebook Marketplace has it, among thousands of listings. Your AI agent can judge a listing and write to a seller. The part it usually cannot do is reach Marketplace: search it with your filters, open each listing, check who sells it, and send the first message.

Why it's hard

Meta has no public Marketplace API: you cannot search listings or message a seller from a personal account through an API. The Facebook Marketplace MCP servers on GitHub replay Facebook's internal GraphQL requests. Their own pages say that these requests change when Facebook ships an update, and they only search and read: no messages, no listings of your own. Hosted scrapers such as Bright Data or Apify read public data and bill per thousand results. A browser agent that clicks through Marketplace page by page is slow, and spends most of its time scrolling.

How Reduck does it

Reduck is a universal MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Its Facebook Marketplace scripts run in your own Chrome, where you are already signed in, so your agent sees Marketplace as you do: your place, your language, your currency. It gets one tool per step. It searches with Marketplace's own filters, opens the listings worth a look, reads each seller's profile, and types your message in the listing's message box. The message stays unsent until you say so. If you sell, the same server previews and posts your listings, lists them and changes their price.

Setup

  1. Install the Reduck extension in Chrome, sign in, and stay signed in to Facebook there.

  2. Add the Reduck MCP server, https://mcp.reduck.ai, to your client. It is a remote server over streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in: nothing to run locally, no API key to paste.

    Claude Code:

claude mcp add reduck --transport http --scope user https://mcp.reduck.ai

Claude Desktop and ChatGPT: add a custom connector named reduck with the URL https://mcp.reduck.ai. Other clients: the settings to use.

  3. Ask: "Search Facebook Marketplace near Austin for a standing desk under $150, check the sellers, and type a message to the best one."

Tools

10 Facebook Marketplace scripts, each one an MCP tool your agent can call.

Buy:

Script What it does Takes
search_marketplace_listings Listings with their link, title, price, city, photo, seller, listing date and status keywords; optional place, price range, sort, condition, listing age (1, 7 or 30 days), delivery method, category
suggest_marketplace_locations The places Marketplace offers for a city or postal code, with their id a city, neighbourhood or postal code
list_marketplace_categories Marketplace's top-level categories, with their id nothing
get_marketplace_listing One listing in full: description, condition and attributes, all photos, status, delivery options, seller rating figures a listing id or link
get_marketplace_seller A seller's profile: join date, active listings, followers, rating figures when public a seller id or profile link
message_marketplace_seller Types a message to the seller of a listing; sends it only with send: true a listing, the message

Sell:

Script What it does Takes
preview_marketplace_listing Fills the sell form and returns the preview, without saving anything a photo, title, price, category, condition, description
publish_marketplace_listing Fills the whole form; posts on Marketplace only with publish: true up to 8 photos, title, price, category, condition, place
list_my_marketplace_listings The items you sell, with status and creation date nothing
set_marketplace_listing_price A new price for one of your listings, and nothing else a listing id, the price

Every script answers structured data. The judgment stays in your agent: which listing is a real deal, which seller looks new or has no ratings, what to ask before you drive across town.

Security

  • It runs in your browser. Each script runs in your own Chrome, on the Facebook session you already have. Reduck never receives your Facebook password.
  • Read and write are separate tools. Searching, reading a listing and reading a seller change nothing. Messaging, publishing and changing a price are their own scripts, marked as writes, so your client can ask you before it calls one.
  • Writes wait for you by default. A message is typed and left unsent, and a listing stops before the final step, until the agent calls the script again with send: true or publish: true.
  • Nothing runs on its own. A script runs only when you or your agent calls it. There is no process that stays connected to Facebook.

Use secondhand-mcp when you only search, and want eBay, Depop and Poshmark in the same call without a Facebook login. Use a dedicated alert app when you need a ping within minutes of a new listing. Use Reduck when you want your agent to go from search to seller: read the listings, check who sells, and write the first message, as you, after your OK. Reduck's scripts cover Facebook Marketplace, not eBay or Depop, and they need your Chrome open and signed in to Facebook.

Who it's for

  • Buyers who look for one item among thousands of listings and want the sellers checked first
  • Resellers who source underpriced items and contact sellers fast
  • Sellers who post, list and reprice their items from Claude or ChatGPT
  • Developers who give Claude Code, Cursor or a local agent a Facebook Marketplace tool that can act, not only search

FAQ

No. Meta has not published a Facebook Marketplace MCP server, and it has no public API to search Marketplace or to message a seller from a personal account. The Facebook Marketplace MCP servers on GitHub, Glama and LobeHub are community projects. Meta's own assistant, Muse, works inside Meta's apps, not in Claude or ChatGPT. Reduck is an MCP server too, and its Facebook Marketplace scripts run in your own Chrome, with any MCP client.
Yes. With Reduck, message_marketplace_seller opens the listing's message box as your account and types your message. By default it leaves the message unsent and returns what the box holds, so you read it first. The agent sends it only when it calls the script with send set to true, after you say so. Of the other Facebook Marketplace MCP servers we read on November 6, 2026, the buyer-side ones only search and read listings, and Bazaar replies only to messages about your own listings.
Install the Reduck extension in Chrome and stay signed in to Facebook there. Then add one MCP server, https://mcp.reduck.ai, to your client. In Claude Code that is one command: claude mcp add reduck --transport http --scope user https://mcp.reduck.ai. In Claude Desktop and ChatGPT, add it as a custom connector with the same URL. There is nothing to run locally, no package to build and no GraphQL query to capture.
There is no API key, no developer app and no cookie to copy. You stay signed in to Facebook in your own Chrome, and each script runs there, as you. So the search uses your account's Marketplace place and saved radius, and you see what you see on facebook.com. Some MCP servers search without a login, such as secondhand-mcp. They see logged-out results and cannot message anyone.
Meta's terms restrict automated access and automated data collection, and no tool can promise that Facebook will never restrict an account. Each Reduck script runs only when you or your agent calls it, one call at a time, in your own browser, signed in as you. Keep the pace of a person: a few searches and a few messages, not hundreds in a row. Messages are the most sensitive part, so the agent types them and you decide when they go. Read Meta's terms and decide whether this fits how you use your account.
Yes. preview_marketplace_listing fills the sell form with a photo, title, price, category, condition and description, and returns the preview without saving anything. publish_marketplace_listing fills the whole form and, by default, stops before the final step; with publish set to true it posts the listing on Marketplace only, not in groups. list_my_marketplace_listings lists what you sell with its status, and set_marketplace_listing_price changes the price of one of your listings and nothing else.
No. A script runs when it is called, so there is no push alert. Your agent can run the same search on a schedule, newest first and limited to the last day, and tell you what is new. Apps such as Outpost Alerts or Crawlbench check Marketplace from their own servers every few minutes: use them when speed is what you need.
Yes. Reduck connects to Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and any other MCP client, local agents included. Tell it in plain words what you are looking for, and the agent picks the Facebook Marketplace scripts it needs.
