You are looking for a place to rent, and the good ones go the day they are listed. You also have conditions Zillow's filters don't hold together: the cat has to be allowed, it has to be furnished, it has to be free on the first of the month. So you open every alert, read every listing to the end, and write to each lister one by one.

Why it's hard

Zillow's saved-search alerts only know Zillow's filters, so most alerts are rentals you would never apply to. The pet policy, the move-in date and the lease term sit inside each listing, and you have to open it to find them. By the time you have checked and written to the lister, someone else has applied.
